Bad Brain!

My daughter wanted me to read "Amelia Bedelia."

Do you know how many ways you could say this name?

I came up with these ones, for example, when I was reading aloud one day last week:

Amela Bedila
Media Bedelia
Anealia Dilia
Melia Belia

When my daughter was laughing so hard that she had tears in her eyes, I finally gave up.

"I'm trying to say it," I said, "but my brain just can't handle this name."

She frowned.

"Bad brain!" she said.

  1. Too,too funny! Bad brain, indeed.

  2. Just wanted to say, I can relate! I had a TIA 3 years ago and although I made a great recovery (no visible deficit), I still have trouble with memory, focus and occasionally with aphasia-- I particularly like to substitute words...mostly it's amusing, but sometimes it really does get to be pretty annoying. Bad brain for sure! =)

Best wishes to you on your continued recovery!

  3. I love this post. I've added a link to it at the bottom of my "What We Cannot Afford" page. For me the point of surviving a stroke is to enjoy life like this priceless moment with your daughter.
