Happy Aphasic Thanksgiving!

Yesterday--Thanksgiving day--I went for a short walk. It was a beautiful day. I saw a small group approaching from the other way. They smiled, and I smiled.

"Happy!" I said in greeting.

I was a little embarrassed. They were probably a little puzzled.

It's the thought that counts.

  1. It's definitely the thought that counts--and the charisma. Love and Happy Thanksgiving, Mum

  3. Thinking of my first attempt as my first rehearsal helps dispel my initial disappointment that I wasn't perfect. My payoff for silently rehearsing phrases like "happy thanksgiving" is seeing the look of surprise on strangers face that a stroke survivor can speak.

  4. It is always the thought that is the most important. Besides, they probably just thought they missed the ending word. :-)
